It was the third day of the first month as flurries gently cascaded onto the pure white canvas that was the ground. The sun was hidden behind the clouds as a young girl walked through the meadow leaving tracks as she walked. Her brown hair was tucked into her scarf which covered half of her face to avoid the piercing wind whipping the trees around her. A bench sat just yards away. Alone, and empty it was covered in snow. Brushing the seat off to reveal the rough, reddish wood the young girl sat down. She stared out towards the horizon as if anticipating something that wouldn't come. Nothing but trees and a white expanse surrounded her. She sighed as she began to hum a low love song while watching the clouds slowly dance across the day sky. It was closing in on midday as the young teen sighed, her twin sister was supposed to meet her.
"Lauren..." The girl mumbled under her breath, "Where are you?" For the next hour no movement was seen other than the dust like snow tumbling across the ground as the branches of the trees swayed in the Heavens. Worried, the girl named Angela whipped out her cell phone and dialed the first number that could come to her mind.
"Andrew! Meet me in the meadows!" Angela exclaimed between icy sobs.
"Angela?" He responded, "What's.... I'll be right there." Angela sat there with her arms around her body for warmth while waiting for her friend. Despite her winter apparel, the icy wind still pierced the girls hands beneath her pink, woolen mittens. Her nose had turned red from the cold, and tears began to freeze on the girl's white face. Suddenly a figure appeared from the trees with barely a shadow to show his presence. The boy wore a heavy green coat and swiftly approached the frightened girl. Pushing the wavy black locks out of his eyes he grabbed Angela's delicate hand and looked into her eyes.
"Angela, what's wrong?" He asked her, being deeply troubled.
"I'm probably just overreacting... but Lauren was supposed to meet me here and she's never THIS late" Angela managed to say. The young boy sat next to his friend and kept her hand clasped within his.
"Have you tried calling her?" He asked.
"She left her phone at home today" Angela responded biting her lip as a stray tear escaped her glassy green eyes. Slightly frowning, Andrew took the thumb of his mitten and wiped the tear off of Angela's cheek. Surprised, the young girl turned her head and looked at Andrew. The snow was beginning to pick up as Angela shivered in the cold. She had left her winter coat at home that day as she held her arms for warmth.
"You cold?" He asks with a smile while draping his coat around her shoulders.
She smiled, "You didn't have to do that."
"No, but I wanted to" Andrew responded. Angela scooched closer towards Andrew as they sat in the cold trying to think of what to do about their missing friend. The wind was progressively growing. It was to the extent that Angela's hair was blowing violently behind her.
     "A...A...Andrew" Angela stammered.
'What?" He asked looking at her with concern. A wave of worry passed over the girl's face once more.
"What if Dimentio is involved..." She thought aloud. Andrew was silent at this. For a second they just sat there, then turning Andrew cupped Angela's face in his hands, their eyes locked on one another. He pushed a stray hair out of her face and then placed his hand back on her cheek.
"Angela, it's going to be all right don't panic" He said with a sense of strength in his voice. She couldn't help but smile a little. Andrew always seemed to comfort her.
"That's better" He smiled. For another second they were lost in each other's eyes as the greens swirled within their irises each lost within the others pools of green like that of a forest in mid spring. Then slowly Andrew moved in, his face getting closer to the girl's. In the moment that they were so close, Angela could feel his warm breath against her icy lips when footsteps could be heard.
"What did I miss!" Lauren exclaimed causing the couple to fall off the bench in surprise into the heap of snow.
